The All India Institute of Medical Sciences is back and students who are planning to appear for this examination should start studying because there will be 200 questions which they would have to finish in three and a half hours. The name AIIMS has now been changed to NEET but the question pattern and other things has not been changed. This examination is basically the gateway for the postgraduate or undergraduate courses. The willing candidates should be aware of the date when the forms are given because normally it starts from the middle of January each year and continues till the end of March. The score which you get in the examination will be valid for just one year. The question pattern for this year’s AIIMS examination has been declared and it is the same as last year. Candidates will be given 200 objective questions and all of them would be multiple choice questions where there would be three or four answers to every question and the student will have to choose the correct one out of those. There will be four different subjects on which the question paper will be based. They are as follows:

General knowledge will comprise of 20 questions and there would be 60 questions each for physics, chemistry and biology. The students would get three and a half hours to finish their examination. The eligibility criterion for appearing for AIIMS is the same as last year. Students who want to sit for this examination will have to secure a minimum of 60% marks in their 12th standard examination in English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. However if the students belongs to the scheduled caste or scheduled tribe quote then there would be a relaxation of 10% in the aggregate marks and they would have to secure only 50% in their + 2 examination. The age factor is also an important factor that would be checked when you fill up the form.
The candidate would have to be a minimum of 17 years before the end of 31st December 2012. If you are planning to become a doctor in future then you would have to rank well and be one of the 70 students who are selected for the MBBS program. Over 85000 students appear for the AIIMS every year and out of that only 70 students are selected. So you can well understand the level of competition and the amount of seriousness you would have to have in order to crack this examination. The examination will be held in the month of June. Since the questions will be objective type there will be negative marking for each wrong answer. The application procedure for this examination is quite easy. Students would be able to fill up their form online and then pay the fees with the help of a demand draft addressed to AIIMS. All the important documents and the form will have to be submitted to AIIMS before you appear for the examination.
